About This Artwork
“A Whisk of Colour” is a breathtaking explosion of pure, kinetic energy. Unlike the other pieces in the collection that sit on a black background, this composition uses a stark white background to make the neon colours absolutely leap off the canvas. The sweeping, glass-like ribbons of blue and orange twist into a central spiral, resembling a culinary whisk or a dynamic brushstroke. It is an incredibly modern, striking, and joyful piece.
The Artisan Process: Digital Layering & Light
These are not AI-generated images. Every piece in the Luminous Art Collection is a masterful digital composition created by Michael Paul Bennett.
The process begins with original photographic elements. Using Adobe Photoshop, Michael converts the images into Smart Objects and begins a meticulous layering process. He applies the Mezzotint filter—which includes long strokes—alongside distortion techniques like Twirl to create a rich, textured base. Next, he adjusts the colour balance of these individual layers and changes their blending types. Finally, Michael takes the artwork into Adobe Lightroom to deep-dive into the shadows, achieving that signature high-contrast colour pop. Because of this painstaking manual process, every piece is a unique fusion of photography and digital artistry.
