About This Artwork
“Buggy” is a spectacular exploration of form and intricate detail. The outer boundary is defined by bold, sweeping arcs of light, while the interior is a dense, tangled network of fine, overlapping lines. The warm copper tones at the base anchor the piece, giving it a sense of weight and structure. It feels like a piece of high-tech machinery or a creature from another world, making it a bold, thought-provoking statement piece for any room.
The Artisan Process: Digital Layering & Light
These are not AI-generated images. Every piece in the Luminous Art Collection is a masterful digital composition created by Michael Paul Bennett.
The process begins with original photographic elements. Using Adobe Photoshop, Michael converts the images into Smart Objects and begins a meticulous layering process. He applies the Mezzotint filter—which includes long strokes—alongside distortion techniques like Twirl to create a rich, textured base. Next, he adjusts the colour balance of these individual layers and changes their blending types. Finally, Michael takes the artwork into Adobe Lightroom to deep-dive into the shadows, achieving that signature deep black background and vibrant colour pop. Because of this painstaking manual process, every piece is a unique fusion of photography and digital artistry.
