About This Artwork
“Dante’s Inferno” is a breathtaking exploration of chaos and elemental force. The composition is dominated by a central, dark vortex that acts like a black hole, pulling in the surrounding jagged, fiery lines of light. The texture is incredibly complex, with the light fracturing and streaking like shards of glass caught in a tornado. It is a piece that commands attention and brings a sense of mythic, untamed energy to any space.
The Artisan Process: Digital Layering & Light
These are not AI-generated images. Every piece in the Luminous Art Collection is a masterful digital composition created by Michael Paul Bennett.
The process begins with original photographic elements. Using Adobe Photoshop, Michael converts the images into Smart Objects and begins a meticulous layering process. He applies the Mezzotint filter—which includes long strokes—alongside distortion techniques like Twirl to create a rich, textured base. Next, he adjusts the colour balance of these individual layers and changes their blending types.
Finally, Michael takes the artwork into Adobe Lightroom to deep-dive into the shadows, achieving that signature deep black background and vibrant colour pop. Because of this painstaking manual process, every piece is a unique fusion of photography and digital artistry.
