About This Artwork
“Puzzled” is a breathtaking exploration of structure versus chaos. Beneath the surface, a powerful, glowing vortex of warm oranges and cool blues is swirling with intense energy. However, it is viewed through a sharp, grid-like overlay that breaks the image into puzzle pieces. The contrast between the organic, fluid light and the rigid, digital squares creates a powerful visual tension, making it a brilliant conversation starter.
The Artisan Process: Digital Layering & Light
These are not AI-generated images. Every piece in the Luminous Art Collection is a masterful digital composition created by Michael Paul Bennett.
The process begins with original photographic elements. Using Adobe Photoshop, Michael converts the images into Smart Objects and begins a meticulous layering process. He applies the Mezzotint filter—which includes long strokes—alongside distortion techniques like Twirl to create a rich, textured base. Next, he adjusts the colour balance of these individual layers and changes their blending types. Finally, Michael takes the artwork into Adobe Lightroom to deep-dive into the shadows, achieving that signature deep black background and vibrant colour pop. Because of this painstaking manual process, every piece is a unique fusion of photography and digital artistry.
