About This Artwork
“Eye of the Dragon” is a breathtaking explosion of colour and form. The composition is built on concentric rings of neon purple, blue, yellow, and red, all converging on a delicate, geometric center that looks like an iris or a flower. The sheer density of the fine, fibrous light trails gives the piece an incredible sense of texture and movement, making it feel as though the eye is actively watching you.
The Artisan Process: Digital Layering & Light
These are not AI-generated images. Every piece in the Luminous Art Collection is a masterful digital composition created by Michael Paul Bennett.
The process begins with original photographic elements. Using Adobe Photoshop, Michael converts the images into Smart Objects and begins a meticulous layering process. He applies the Mezzotint filter—which includes long strokes—alongside distortion techniques like Twirl to create a rich, textured base. Next, he adjusts the colour balance of these individual layers and changes their blending types. Finally, Michael takes the artwork into Adobe Lightroom to deep-dive into the shadows, achieving that signature deep black background and vibrant colour pop. Because of this painstaking manual process, every piece is a unique fusion of photography and digital artistry.
