About This Artwork
“Cosmic Disturbance” is a breathtaking exploration of directional energy. Unlike the explosive chaos of the original piece, this composition feels more like a laser beam or a comet streaking across the sky. The brilliant orange core acts as the engine, propelling the surrounding purple and blue light trails forward with incredible speed.
The Artisan Process: Digital Layering & Light
These are not AI-generated images. Every piece in the Luminous Art Collection is a masterful digital composition created by Michael Paul Bennett.
The process begins with original photographic elements. Using Adobe Photoshop, Michael converts the images into Smart Objects and begins a meticulous layering process. He applies the Mezzotint filter—which includes long strokes—alongside distortion techniques like Twirl to create a rich, textured base. Next, he adjusts the colour balance of these individual layers and changes their blending types. Finally, Michael takes the artwork into Adobe Lightroom to deep-dive into the shadows, achieving that signature deep black background and vibrant colour pop. Because of this painstaking manual process, every piece is a unique fusion of photography and digital artistry.
