About This Artwork
“Tortured Minds” is a profound visual exploration of the human psyche. The golden tendrils sweep and interlock, creating an almost mirrored image of two heads facing one another. It captures the feeling of internal conflict, deep thought, and the complex, tangled pathways of the mind. It is a piece that demands contemplation and offers a sense of solidarity to anyone navigating their own mental landscape.
The Artisan Process: From Bridge to Abstract
These are not AI-generated images. This luminous art piece began as an original photograph of the High Level Bridge in Newcastle, captured by Michael Paul Bennett.
Using Adobe Photoshop, he converted the image into a Smart Object and began a meticulous layering process. He applied the Mezzotint filter—which includes long strokes—alongside distortion techniques like Twirl to break the architectural lines apart. Finally, he adjusted the colour balance of the layers and used Adobe Lightroom to deep-dive into the shadows, achieving that signature deep black background and vibrant golden glow.
Your Neurodecorating® Prescription: For The Deep Thinker & The Sanctuary-Seeker

For The Sanctuary-Seeker, this piece offers a different kind of comfort. By visualising the “tortured” mind as something beautiful and golden, it creates a space of emotional safety and acceptance. It is ideal for a bedroom, a therapy room, or a quiet space where one can process complex feelings.
